SpeedTree FBX Usage

Since I couldn't find a clear answer on my question whether FBX exported SpeedTree models are allowed to be used in ANY Lumion application, I had a long discussion with Kevin Meredith (Director SpeedTree) about it and this is the final answer:

With ANY version of SpeedTree you can export FBX models that can be used in movies and stills generated by Lumion.

ONLY with the SpeedTree for Games edition (fee USUALLY about $15K) you are allowed to use exported FBX models in the realtime Lumion Viewer.

FYI

I found it a bit weird that you are not allowed FBX exported trees from the Cinema/Studio/Architect editions for use in the Lumion viewer, especially since this is not exactly an application, just a viewer which is not sold as a seperate application for every project you make.

I know E-onsoftware's The Plant Factory DOES allow use of models for realtime applications !!

With ANY version of SpeedTree you can export FBX models that can be used in movies and stills generated by Lumion.

In addition, you can also export .SRT models that will sway in the wind in Lumion provided that you use SpeedTree Modeler 5.1.1.

Newer/older versions of the SpeedTree Modeler are not compatible.
