Hi !

I don't know if this subject already was covered but i wanted to share a TIP I recently discovered:

What I wanted was a specularity effect like this one:

You can use this very basic specularity (reflection in fact) function in lumion doing this:

add a standard material with an ALPHA chanel  (TARGA with white color reflective and black opaque as if you wanted to do an opacity alpha). Then if you don't turn it to "clip" and add some refletivity then it will act like a reflection/specular Map...
Caution: using bump JPG's kill the effect but you can use Normal maps...

Simple effect:

With normal Map Bump:

I hope it might be usefull... See you !

Hi gonzohot, just a small correction:

You said: "You can only use pure white or black so the effect is limited".

This is not correct - you can use a greyscale specular mask too, so I have edited your post above to prevent confusion :)

Thanks for posting the tip!

Thank You Morten for this correction! I didn't know that ! I hope it will work with alpha's opacity in lumion3.0: it would be a great improvement...

In my opinion, the specular and alpha mask functionality in the Standard material are not exactly intuitive to use :-\

I hope the developers will consider overhauling this in a future version.
