Special Effects and what they do....

Is there an explanation somewhere of all the SPECIAL EFFECTS and what they do? I use Godrays alot.... but nothing else because I seem to mess up my flythrough when I experiment and therefore become reluctant to play around too much.
Do people share their experience with these effects and what adjustments work for them. It's just I always feel pressured by time.... and get impatient for micro managing.... other peoples opinions help me make quicker decisions.

Hi maeglin1, we've actually talked about this internally at Act-3D - one idea is to make certain Movie effect combinations available as presets, so that it would only require 1 click to achieve a certain look.

Disclaimer: This does not necessarily mean that you can expect this in a future version of Lumion ;)

Thanks for getting back....

As a designer I try to present my work (to a client) like they were a child.... I try and take away any details that could confuse them.... and focus on what makes me design in the first place.... common sense, simplicity and beauty..... or if I could distil it further....ZEN.
Coming back to Lumion.... I like to think of Lumion like a beautiful swan.... a graceful bird gliding through the water.... although underneath the water, out of sight, it's powerful feet are paddling like crazy. This is essentially what I want from software..... something that is powerful and inspiring to work with that does all the frantic paddling for me.

Having PRESETS is a great idea and a direction that you should explore seriously.... because it fosters the spirit of what Lumion's about.... simplicity.

Lumion is brilliant software. It blew me away when I first saw it.... because it took all the effort out of 3D visualization.... and makes the designer look good too :-D

Thanks for your feedback, maeglin1 - I like your swan analogy :)

Yes, so at early stages, I have gotten some recommendations to use sketch mode to keep the focus AWAY from color, material and texture, and ON the architecture design and ideas.

This is a Lumion content photo I made to illlustrate that early stage idea conveying: (took 2 minutes to make)
