Something not right loading program..Free Version

Hi,

I have used Lumion in the past on another computer with no problem.  However, I have loaded it in my current lap top and it seems to be loading correctly but when I place the landscape it seems as though the image is far bigger than the screen and is distorted.    And loading a model is not looking good either.  The program is definitely not working like it had in the past.  I tried a new install but same problem. Any suggestions?

Hi dgavin, I take it you read this FAQ post and checked that your laptop PC meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements, and that Lumion.exe is using the fast Nvidia graphics card as opposed to the slow Intel HD GPU?

By the way, you don't have to use that old version of Lumion anymore - Lumion 5.3 Demo is available for download :)

I'll try the new Demo version and see if that helps.  My current lap top is better than the old one that the program worked fine on. I also use it for CHief Architect latest version and do ray tracing no problem.

Hi dgavin, installing the latest Demo version won't resolve the problem you're experiencing.

That sort of white-out is usually a consequence of the integrated Intel HD graphics card being used instead of the Nvidia card. Please read the instructions in the FAQ post I mentioned above to learn how to get your laptop PC to use the Nvidia card instead of the Intel HD card.

I would also recommend that you check whether the latest Nvidia drivers are installed.

Well it seems Lumion doesn't like my system.  Different results with the new demo version but still bad.
Nvidia GTX 770M  2 gb.  WHen I check the properties it says that is the default card. Stumped. Oh up to date drivers also.

Hi dgavin

The Passmark for that card type is OK; 2730 compared to minimum required of 2000.

What happens if you right click on the Lumion.exe (in C:\Program Files\Lumion Demo 5.3) and Run with Graphics Processor --> High Performance NVIDIA processor?

If still not working properly, please provide the following:
1. DXDiag report:  Windows --> Run --> DXDiag --> save As to a txt file, then zip
2. NVIDIA Control Panel --> System Information (lower left) --> Save to a .txt file and zip
3. Run GPU-Z, and take a screencapture of the Graphics Card tab.

You can also test your card with: GPU Shark and stress test FurMark.

And check what your cards performance is compared to submitted results at Passmark: PassMark PC Performance tool.

Hi dgavin,

1) Did you zip the files before attaching them? If yes, just upload the files to a filehost instead, e.g. Wetransfer.

What happens if you right click on the Lumion.exe (in C:\Program Files\Lumion Demo 5.3) and Run with Graphics Processor --> High Performance NVIDIA processor?

2) What's the answer to this question?

And you also tried to assign the Nvidia card to LOCATION ON HARDDRIVE\Lumion Demo 5.3\Lumion.exe as shown on the screenshot in this FAQ post?

yes - WHen I right click on shortcut and select run with Nvidia I get the false start.  Have to go into task manager-processes and terminate.  If I just click on the shortcut the program starts but I get the same poor terrain display.  Since I am also having a problem getting the Nvidia card to be used in Chief Archotect I am thinking there is a problem with the card or the driver.  THe driver reports as being up to date but something ain't right!

Hi dgavin

The NVIDIA driver is being reported in both those reports as an old driver for April 2014 as 335.23.  Current driver for the 770M is 347.88 (link).

Please install the latest driver, and see if that helps.

Can you also provide this:

3. Run GPU-Z, and take a screencapture of the Graphics Card tab.

Peter,

That driver update did the trick.  Wonder why when I checked for an update from within the Nvidia control panel it said I had the latest driver?  Couldn't get GPU-Z to run but it looks like it's not necessary now?  IF you still think you want to look at it can you tell me how to run it?
Thanks very much for all your efforts. I really appreciate it.  I have been having a tough go of things lately so it is good to see SOMETHING get worked out!!
Now I just have to re-familiarize myself with Lumion. It's been a while.
Again, thank you!!

Hi dgavin

Great, thanks for letting us know.

GPU-Z not required now, but it is of concern it's not running.  Try it again later on some time, and also the Passmark Performance report as mentioned earlier.
