Serveral modelfiles and materials

Hi

I would like to be able to create two illustrations.

One where the groundfloor is visible
One where the groundfloor and first floor is visible

This I would do by importing two seperate models and then use layers to turn on/off first floor.

I have tried this now, but it seems I have to add materials to both models, even if they have the same name.

Is this true? or is there a better way to create the illustrations?

Thanks.

Hi jorgensen, this is probably a situation where the new Load/Save material set function would come in handy.

1) Since you have 2 separate models (Model A and B) that need to use similar materials my advice would be to assign all materials to one of the two models, e.g. Model A.

2) Then save the material set:
Edit materials -> Click on Model A -> Save material set button (in the lower right corner)

3) Place the second model in the scene and load the material set from the previous model:
Edit materials -> Click on Model B -> Load material set button (in the lower right corner)

The way this function works is that it will look for any overlap in the names of the materials that were used in SketchUp for both models.

Every time it finds a match, it will add the material from model A to Model B.

If you plan ahead a bit and make a habit of always using the same material names in SketchUp (BrickWall_A, BrickWall_B and so on) you can make entire material sets in Lumion which you can apply to new imported models with a single click :)

Hi Morten

Thanks for your feedback.

I have tried it now:
Save the materials from the groundfloor
Load the materials from the groundfloor to the first floor.

But when I reload the firstfloor the materials get reset. But that might be if the materials have different names - haven't have time to check.

Hi jorgensen, after you loaded the saved Material Set from the groundfloor model, did you click on OK before you clicked on the Reload model button?

(If you don't click on OK after loading the Material Set, it will indeed reset the materials when you reload the model)
