REQUEST for Export for Educational Version

Hey guys, I think it would be nice if the EXPORT SCENE option was available for the Educational Version.

I have a large and very enthusiastic college class of designers that are using Lumion for my class as well as their other classes, including their Final Project and the inability to EXPORT has become an issue.

Students are having trouble using the work-around of copying Lumion Folder contents and being sure they overwrite or do not overwrite the proper files. It is tedious and some have had L5 files become corrupt somehow during the copy process (that happened to me as well recently).

If the ability is available as work around to copy those files and continue working on a project, as it should be, i see no reason why the EXPORT function could not be enabled in the Educational version to make that process much easier for students.

I believe we are educating the next wave of Lumion users to hit the workplace. They are abandoning programs like MAX and SketchUp rendering plugins in favor of Lumion and it is very exciting to see what these kids are producing. I think making it easier to save and document their precious work would go a long way to help secure their love of the product and brand loyalty as they filter in to the workforce.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob

Thank you for your feedback and explanation.

Can you provide more detail as to why students need to copy the Lumion folder?

yes. the computers in the class lab are setup to wipe out student info after a session, so the computers do not get cluttered with student files. all students are responsible for keeping their content on external drives and have backups so that the issues of lost files can never be blamed on the computers or other users tampering with files on the computers.

so, each time they work on files, they must have a copy on their external drives. the only way to do that now is to copy the lumion 5 folder and its sub folder contents, then copy back to whatever machine they need to work on.

an exported file would be very much easier.

Thanks Bob for the further details.

I'll leave the topic here, rather than move to Wishlist Boards, in case other educational members wish to comment.  Can I get you to add a new topic in the Wishlist Board referencing this topic, so it's also included there.
