Hi all,

I am looking into Lumion for the company I work for. I wanted to ask if you can render any separate elements like IDs for materials etc as I would like to work on animations in After Effects.

Cheers

Gooner

Hi Gooner

Thanks for the interest in Lumion.  :)

Yes. Lumion exports as single frames from a movie the following maps: depth-map, normalmap, lighting map, sky alpha map, and materialID map.  Refer further Product Information

Note the MaterialID map is not able to create a map including the transparency regions of leaves.  This may not be an issue, depending on compositing needs.  The Sky Alpha Map can be used to select transparency regions in plants for above horizon level selections.

You can download the Free version of Lumion which includes these features, see FREE menu top of forum.  That version is as of v3.2.1.  If your company requires to evaluate the additional features in v4, then a Trial License is available on request via your local Reseller, or if not available, via the office:  info [at] act-3d.com.

Thanks for your help, can you tell me where exactly the Render ID option is?.. is it an 'Effect', are these passes done through effects?

Do you know of any tutorials that show a workflow between Lumion and After Effects?... I've looked but can't find much.

Hi

Maps are an output from the render of Images, or Single Shots, for either a Clip or the Entire Movie.

Click on the Auto button to show the map selection, see pics 1 & 2.

Not aware of a tutorial video.  Just export the images from Lumion, and import them to AE. The file names have a sequential numbering included.
