Hi,

I'm new to Lumion.

For an interior scene I want to add a little reflection on the floor.
In this scene you can see the reflection going strange with some sort of an offset.
How can I correct this? I already tried the error reduction slider.  ???

Hi mdsign, I assume that you have applied a Reflection effect to your clip (or to Photo mode) and assigned a reflection plane to the floor model in Lumion 3.0.2.

Regarding the floor material, can you explain which material type this is?

If it's a Standard material, did you apply a non-normalmap texture to the normalmap slot by any chance?

yes I used a bump map.

Ok, this is what's causing the problem with the reflections.

You need to create a blue/purple normalmap) - otherwise it won't work.

You can use 3rd party applications such as CrazyBump to convert a diffuse texture to a blue/purple normalmap.

Hi Larias, there are 2 types of reflections in Lumion 3:

1) Projected reflections (not accurate)
2) Planar reflections (accurate)

Planar reflections work with the following materials:

  • Standard material (including your own diffuse/normalmap textures)
  • Glass material
  • The built-in materials in the Material Library (Wood, Bricks etc)

Projected reflections work with all materials with a Reflectivity parameter:

  • Standard material (including your own diffuse/normalmap textures)
  • Glass material
  • Water material
  • Waterfall material
  • The built-in materials in the Material Library (Wood, Bricks etc)
