Reflection Plane

Hi, can you clear this up?
So I wish to apply the reflection plane to a curved surface. In the text at the bottom (forgive me, I dont have it open).. it says OR 'click on standard surface' but when I do click on the standard surface, the section that is green (I guess indicating where the reflection plane has been applied) is very small. Like a band across the curved surface itself.
a) Can you actually apply the reflection plane to a curved surface
b)If so, how do I cover the entire material?

I realise applying a flat plane to a curved surface is probably not the right way to go about it, but I thought I'd ask.

Oh and in future updates, please please please can we have volumetric lighting that works with spotlights at night with the fog/dust (etc) special effect? Drives me bonkers that as soon as the sun is gone over the horizon, no volumetrics can be seen.

Huge thanks!

Hi mjb11800, the tooltip text for the (+) button is 'Add Plane', and once you've clicked that button it says 'Click a standard material or glass to add a plane'. In other words, reflection planes only work on flat (planar) surfaces such as floors, windows etc.

b)If so, how do I cover the entire material?
If a material is reflective and you haven't applied a reflection plane to it via the Reflection effect, it will use less accurate projected reflections. There's more information about this reflection type in the Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts post.

I'd be grateful if you could post this suggestion in the Wish List section, so that it won't disappear in the General Discussion Area.

Here's how to get access to that section:

TIP: Since you are working for a company, you can use 1 license key for multiple staff members, as a way to get full access to the forum. We provide faster support in the Commercial User section of the forum.

All that you need to do is to ask the person who manages the license keys at your company to go to your Account settings and enter one of the license keys. You will then have full access to the forum.

Thanks for that Morton :)

Oh yeah sure, no probs...., I'll sort the key-access thing out.

One other thing before you go! - Which I guess should also be in the wish list section is that I was really disappointed to find out that if you tilt the camera in movie mode (hand held), it resets when you switch to photo mode.
In photo mode, the tilt doesnt work at all.

So I cant render out one frame with the camera on a tilt which is a shame..

Anyways, thanks again!
M
