Randomization of closely spaced objects

I noticed that when I place similar objects in succession, the objects will randomize, i.e. vehicles change color, trees rotate slightly.  Is it possible to select a number of objects from a category and have them be placed randomly?  For instance, when filling a parking lot with vehicles, one click places a red car and the next click places a blue truck and the next click places a different truck and so on.  The parking lot would be filled with vehicles that have been preselected so as to eliminate unwanted vehicles (like buses or vans).  The same option could be used for vegetation or people.  Scene creations which require randomization would be very easy to create.

You can use the ALT + Move to create a lot of items quickly and then use the position->randomize option to have the all randomized.
