I have a quadro k4000 and got a new gtx Titan to test with Lumion.
Is there a way to tell Lumion which card to use?
I set it into NVidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings, I selected Lumion as program and set the GTX Titan for CUDA - GPUs but when I run the benchmark in Lumion it still looks at the quadro.

any suggestion?

thank you

Hi
I selected Lumion as program and set the GTX Titan for CUDA - GPUs

CUDA? The selection list of NVIDIA cards should say same or similar to shown here - a High Performance NVIDIA Processor or specifically the Titan.  What is shown in your 3D Settings?

Check also that the Quadro is not set to run Lumion.

Hi Peterm,

thank yoy for your reply.

My panel is slightly different (see the attachment) actually I can't select the graphic processor for the program but I can specify which card to use for different tasks for a specific program.
Is there a way to avoid the quadro to run Lumion as you said?

I would have thought that if both cards are running, the Control Panel would be listing both cards for number 2 "select which card...".

It looks like it's only seeing one card.

Please do a screencapture of the Benchmark full chart and also run the DXDiag report, and attach the file it shows in the Lumion folder to a post.

To check your system you can
1.  have a look at Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Display Adaptors and see what is listed.
2.  run the reports from the PassMark Performance tool tool.

We have some other users running two cards, perhaps they can do a screencapture of their NVIDIA Control Panel for a reply here.

It seems that the system recognises the two cards (see attachments)

the DXDiag instead only report the quadro, I'll attach it to a second post

Thanks for those.

Yes for the Benchmark and also in the DXDiag Report, the primary card is the Quadro.  This is because the Benchmark uses the name of the primary card as listed by DirectX (Windows and DirectX limitation), but if Lumion has been assigned in the Control Panel then it will use the Titan.

However at the moment, I do not know why there are not two cards to select from in the 3D Settings.  Unfortunately I do not have a two card system to check with.  Hopefully another user can advise  :).

the only way for now is to plug the monitor directly to the Titan  :-[

I've had the same problem on a laptop, it had a k3000m, but insisted on showing the intel internal one for the benchmark. Annoying stuff.

The benchmark relies on DirectX to check which graphics card is used, and unfortunately DirectX will always return the Intel card.

In a future update of Lumion, the benchmark will just say "Unable to determine" if you use a PC with an Intel card.

So it shows the intel card for the benchmark, but uses the quadro card for the rendering?

Yes, if the card (in your case the Quadro K3000M) has been assigned in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Goody. By the way, the laptop belongs to my boss. My laptop got a 670m in it, which is way better. (And its Asus, so no nasty onboard graphics!) I wouldnt be caught dead with a intel laptop. :S
