Message showing is..display AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered. Windows shut down to prevent damage to computer.

Im using an i7 hp laptop with 6 gig ram

The program requires a dedicated graphics card. If you have an integrated graphics card, this can happen.

If you have a laptop with only integrated graphics you will not be able to run Lumion.

If you have a laptop that includes a dedicated GPU then Lumion requires use of the much more powerful dedicated GPU (NVIDIA or AMD/ATI).

See Crash/Driver crash/Blue screen/"Not the same" error on laptop PCs to set the GPU to the dedicated GPU when running Lumion.

Hi

You should be able to find the details of what is on your system via Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Display Adaptors see attached pic (also usually the driver for the card is displayed in the System Tray or its accessible form the desktop right click menu).

As you mention a warning message and that was "..AMD.." then  I guess the system should show an AMD/ATI GPU, and perhaps you should see Catalyst Control Center to manage the GPU.

Please try following the steps in the link as mentioned earlier, or if available someone at your location who can help.

If you have a dedicated GPU, then it's a matter of then working out if it is powerful enough to run Lumion.

Please see this post for recent discussion on laptops: Laptop Specs.  The links for  the specs is also included here for you:

re your new post:

Please follow my post as you mentioned about AMD.

Lumion requires a dedicated GPU, so if it does not have one you would need to contact a supplier and arrange for upgrading, or look at other PC options such as a different laptop or desktop solution.

Hi guys,
I followed your steps and this is what I have on my machine.
Radeon (TM) HD 6770M card.
Don't know much about the types of graphics card so please advise if it can handle Lumion

Please refer to the links I provided.

Your card is not listed for a Passmark, but closest dual 6670 card which will be a lot faster than an M series only has a 646 Passmark.

You will need to consider at minimum replacing the GPU for the best you can find in terms of performance first, or looking at a much higher spec laptop.

Hi,
I went to the nearest computer store to ask them to have a look at my laptop to upgrade my graphics card but was told it's not possible.
Now my question is normally a machine would at least open a programme but have difficulty using some features, why is it on Lumion the programme doesn't even try to open? I mean I run Archicad which is a 3d programme and don't have any issues.

Please let me know why this happens cos I've already spent data loading this trial version.

Hi

That's sad but probably expected of some laptops, they have tended to lock in the hardware and not allow for changing.  Some laptops are capable of adding a dedicated GPU because the motherboard allows for such additional hardware, others may not.

Programmes like ArchiCAD might be 3D but they do their work with the CPU (mostly).

Lumion uses the GPU for a lot of core stuff as well as some CPU and it is only dedicated GPU's with certain specs that provide the features Lumion uses.

Minimum requirements etc are spelt out on the Lumion web site, as well as the forum providing numerous topics about hardware needs.
