i want to run lumion and render the complex videos also in the same. the graphic card we have finalized for gtx 680 4 gb.
but we are in a fix if we have to buy xeon 2650 or i7 3930 processors for shortest rendering times for complex models?

Hi aarvye, the render time is not affected much by the CPU, since Lumion is a GPU-based renderer.

Performance in Build mode (i.e. the framerate) can be adversely affected if your CPU can't keep up with your graphics card though, but it's usually not a problem if you have a modern CPU and graphics card.

Hi aarvye, can you post a screenshot of your Lumion Settings screen please?

Also, just to double-check your hardware, Windows version etc, can you run "DXdiag" in the Windows Start menu -> Click on "Save All Information", and attach the dxdiag.txt document to your next post (Click on "+ Additional Options" below the text field)?

Hi Morten,
i have attached those files you have asked.
today the computer got hung up thrice while working on lumion, had to be restarted. the computer took about 35mins to get restarted due to 4 update configuration. i strongly feel that i am missing out on some settings as lumion has been behaving very funny, sometimes it works very smoothly and sometimes it is very hard to handle like its gonna crash on me. i dont want to buy lumion until this problem is resolved.
please help!!

Hi aarvye, thanks for the information.

Your hardware, driver and Windows version seem fine.

The only wildcard that remains is how complex your scenes are.

The more complex they are in terms of texture usage and vertex count, the worse the performance will be in Build mode, and the longer your render times will be.

Can you shed some light on what kind of scenes you're working on?

I don't know if you're already aware of this but you have to be really careful when you use spotlights. Please read this FAQ post (Spotlight properties) for more information.

Anyway, please load one of the scenes you've having problems with.

Then turn on the i button in the Settings menu and press F7 and F9 in Build mode to turn on high quality trees and terrain. Zoom out and let us know what the number is in the top right corner (k means 000, so 39.000k = 39 million vertices).

Hi Morten,
thanks for your prompt reply.
i afraid to say that there is absolutely zero scenes. even the blank space in the lumion works very slow. from double click in the icon to  open model space took over 10 mins.

but now when i tried for you, the model space opened up in 130 seconds, and verts count is 108217 verts and 65fps. now the model space movement is also quicker than earlier.

this problem is very unpredictable. persists at wrong time!

Hmm, could it be that something else might be hogging your GPU/CPU?

Try to press CTRL + ALT + DEL -> Task Manager -> Performance -> Resource Monitor -> CPU & Memory tabs and make the Lumion window a bit smaller, so you can keep an eye on the CPU and memory usage while you load one of the empty scenes.

As soon as you notice that it gets slow, check if there are other applications that might be causing the problem.

can you suggest me some way to check the health of GPU and CPU? (through some program or website which you approve) as this comp reminds me of 10 yrs back computer with a pentium III system with 64 mb ram!

Hello aarvye, you're the first to report this sort of problem with a GTX 680 and plenty of our customers have that card, so to rule out hardware problems you could try to run OCCT which will stress test your RAM, CPU and GPU.

There's a download link to OCCT in this post.
