Hi yn2000

Thanks for your interest in Lumion.  :)

Yes. Lumion will generate a model for any location.  AFAIK there are no legal or political restrictions.

All data is from the open source OpenStreetMap data, so if the data is there, then the sub-set we use is downloaded in to Lumion.  How detailed and complete the model is, as compared to the actual place, may vary.

I should add that where there is building data, but no Height data for a building, then you can set a height above ground level to give 3D context to the buildings.

Hi Peterm,
Does this function also work for the purpose of importing terrain data?
Thanks.

No, the OpenStreetMap import functionality in Lumion currently does not import elevation data (or satellite imagery).

You basically get simple 3D building/road/water shapes on a flat ground plane.

Hi,

Incredible feature.

Is there any way to delete buildings so I can incorporate a proposal for a new masterplan/ building?

Ta,

Hi Marvin, imported models currently cut holes around where you place the model (but this is subject to change in a future update). Please see this Knowledge Base article for more information.

I would also recommend checking out the Knowledge Base article on working with OpenStreetMap in Lumion.

Let us know if you've got any other questions. :)

Hello,
I have a problem with StreetMap into Lumion 7.0.1.
Not works, I would like to know if this feature works with Java rutines, that maybe is the reason why in my workstation the popup now shown any map.... (maybe some restriction from policy of my network).
Also the bar to search places not works.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion and Best Regards.

Hi Extrude72, we can help you resolve that issue. :)

When you're done reading this post, please click here and follow the instructions to register your Lumion 7 license.

Please note that you will no longer have acess to the Trial forum section after registering your license. However, we'll move this thread to the 'General Questions' section in the forum for commercial users (which is hidden until you register your license), so that we can continue this discussion.

Now, regarding the OpenStreetMap functionality, it requires a direct HTTP connection to *.mapzen.com via port 80 - otherwise the map and search function will not work. If a proxy server is used, a direct connection is not possible, and the OpenStreetMap function in Lumion will also not work.

Can you ask your IT administrator to help you enable internet access for Lumion in your anti-virus software (and router)?

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply and clarifications (very highly appreciated).
Due to the fact that the licence issues are managed from our IT department (CodeKey included), I'll inform them about your clarifications on HTTP connection... I guess that they can manage it (at least I hope so).

Regarding the instructions to register my account on licensed release, I think that will be not possible (but I can check the guide and try it asking the license informations to my IT.

Thanks and Best Regards

What you can do is to ask your colleagues to enter the license on your forum profile page (while you look away from the screen).

Once the license is entered on your forum profile page it is partly hidden with ***** characters (like credit card numbers), so the license number will remain hidden from you.

If that's also not possible, please send us the name of the company you are working for and the name and email address of the IT administrator who has got access to the license number. Our email address is uploads [at] lumion3d.com (replace [at] with @).

Thanks in advance. :)

Many Thanks,
I have already forwarded your clarifications to my IT Admin, and I'll wait their action on it.

I'll be back to yoy at soonest I'll receive some news on this subject.

Please be informed that I don't know if maybe they have already opened another account with our license key (we have only one license in my Company)..... in any case, I'll let you know.

Thanks and Best Regards

You can register 1 license key with as many forum accounts as you want. That way, everyone at your company can have access to the full Lumion forum. ;)
