Object Clipping - Theatre Mode

Hi - I'm working on a pretty large area - say 1Km x 1Km - in theatre mode I'm getting the objects disappearing as you move away. Have tried the camera clipping in scene effects but I guess this only applies to renders / animations?
Thanks for any suggestions

Edit - I think it's got to do with the depth offset of my ground plane bitmap!

With trees and other objects is it possible to increase viewing distance in theatre mode?
Thanks

The only objects that should be clipping at far distances are the trees.  This is done to lighten the load on your GPU.  To view all vegetation at full LOD, press F9, and again to turn off.

While rendering, all vegetation is automatically rendered at full LOD.
