Not the same error

I've been having this issue on my desktop. I just put together a new computer, using a 6850 graphics card that I had in my old system. The old system would run Lumion fine with that card with no issues. After installing Lumion on my new PC (which is much much faster) I am getting this error when I tried to open a scene. Any ideas on what could be causing this problem? I've tried rolling back my drivers but that didn't help, I don't see that being the issue anyways because I used Lumion in my old system only a few weeks ago with the latest drivers. Thanks!

Okay I messed around with it some more and figured a few things out. First of all the numbers following the "not the same" are 512 and 256 (alternating), not 1024 like a lot of people are experiencing. The second thing I figured out is if I keep clicking okay, probably around 30 or 40 times, it allows me to actually get into the scene and do stuff. However, if something drastic is done, such as changing the time of day, the error pops up again, and I must click through in order to still do anything. I made sure the integrated graphics were turned off on my cpu and was keeping track of my 6850 while doing stuff in Lumion, and it is under load, so its the gpu the system is using. I have Lumion 2.5 and an older version and both were doing the same thing (both worked fine on my old build, and I've tried uninstalling one to make sure there are no weird conflicts, it makes no difference however).

Hi halostar747, can you post a screenshot of the Settings screen in Lumion 2.5 please?

As soon as I get a chance to I will, I'm not at home at the moment. By settings, do you mean just the general settings area, where you can adjust the resolution percentage, and the various options?

Also just to add now that you reminded me, I tried working with the resolution all the way down in the settings, tried working with my monitor resolution down, and tried working with the shadows turned off by hitting F1. Now my fps increase dramatically but the error was still occurring.

Thank you for your quick response and I'll upload the screenshot as soon as possible.

Thanks for that, halostar747.

All you need to do is to revert to driver version 12.10:
http://lumion3d.com/forum/announcements/amdati-graphics-card-warning-about-the-latest-driver-(13-10)

I also use an AMD card and can confirm that this driver works.

(By the way, this problem has been fixed in the upcoming 3.1 update)

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately that did not solve the problem. I tried the driver in the link you provided just now, but previously I tried reverting all the back to 12.6 with no luck. Later today I will try to wipe all old driver information (as you suggested in another topic, by manually going in to make sure there is no old driver information). Do you have any idea what else could be causing this issue?

Hi halostar747, you will get rid of the error message in Lumion if you uninstall all previous drivers (this includes the default ATI driver that Windows will try to install after your uninstall your existing driver) and then install driver version 12.10 (not 12.6 ;)).

Here's how:

1) Download the previous driver version, i.e. version 12.10.

2) After uninstalling 13.10 and restarting again, make sure you run Driver Sweeper (ATI option) to delete any left-over files:
http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html

3) After restarting, Windows might try to install standard (outdated) ATI driver software. To prevent this from happening, right-click on My Computer -> Properties, Device Manager -> Display Adapter -> Right-click on 'ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series' -> Driver tab -> Uninstall -> Delete the driver software for this device -> OK.

4) Restart Windows. The resolution should now be very low. Install 12.10 and restart when it's done.

5) Verify that it has been installed correctly by typing "dxdiag" in the Windows Start menu text field, followed by enter. In the Display tab the Version number should be 9.2.0.0.

Well after about an hour of messing with it, doing what you said, switching out video sources, uninstalling and re-installing, it finally works. I really appreciate all your help. You guys have a great piece of software here. The amount of time it takes me to make amazing renderings compared to my classmates is unreal, keep up the good work!

Good to hear that and thanks!

(Lumion Free 3.1 will no longer have this problem, so you will soon be able to re-install the latest driver)

Are there any indications of the release date?

No, the developers are hoping to release 3.1 Beta 2 tomorrow.

The release date of 3.1 (final) will depend on how many errors the beta testers find in the next beta version.

Hi Morton,

I understand that but I read FREE. Is this also the case?

(I was referring to Free since the original poster was using Lumion Free 2.5)

I don't know if Lumion Free 3.1 will be released at the same time as or after Lumion Normal/ProEducational 3.1 is released.

You will receive an email as soon as any of the versions above are released.

Please note that you will not be able to open LS3 files in Lumion Free 3.x.

Ferry will create a new dedicated LS3 viewer application for that purpose.

All is clear now... I hope I can convince my boss to buy L3 after I testdrive the free version.
A dedicated LS3 viewer app would also be awesome just for our customers. What about a dedicated LS2 viewer app?
