At the moment i'm using a computer with a intel xeon cp4 e3-1245v3 3,4ghz Processor and a nvidia quadro k5000 4gb Graphics card

Do you guys recomend me to change Graphics card to a Asus GeForce GTX Titan?

Will it shorten my rendering time much?

Hi N-hul, you can see for yourself how much slower the K5000 is here.

Whether you should upgrade to a Titan or a GTX 980 is a good question. Up until now the Titan has had more memory than the 980 which allows you to build more complex scenes with more high-resolution textures. However, there are persistent rumours about an 8GB version of the GTX 980 which is supposed to be released in Q1 2015. This would tip the balance in favour of the GTX 980 as you'd be getting a very fast card as well as a lot of on-board memory.

Hi,

May seem a daft question but is it the memory of the graphics card that allows for a smoother, high resolution walk through in real time as well as rendered mp4's

It's not a daft question, tuckersj :)

If you use a lot of high resolution textures on a graphics card with low memory, you are likely to experience stuttering as you move the camera around in the scene in real-time. Especially if you pan from side to side, when new objects come into view. This is because the graphics card needs to load the textures on the fly. Low GPU memory may also result in 'warped 3D points' (streaks/lines of polygons).

A slow graphics card on the other hand will result in a persistently low frame rate, i.e. not a very smooth walk through in real-time.

The smoothness of camera animations is not affected by graphics card memory when rendering MP4s.

Hi  :-D
As Lumion's team can't really (tell me if i'm wrong Morten) comment or advice you to buy this card or an other , i'll do for him  ;)

The best card actually is geforce 980 but "only" with 4 Gb .
The titan (with 6gb) is very good but very expansive and you have the geforce 780 with 6gb (close behind or ahead it depend) but cheaper.

" This will allegedly have 20 SM activated with 2560 Shader Processing Units. It will also have 150 TMUs as well as 96 ROPs on top of a 384-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5."
