Not coming from the gaming world and having used many other 3D interfaces, I found Lumion’s mouse controls odd. I don't care for keyboard commands for view controls and prefer to leave those for command Hotkeys. Although I do miss a simple "Orbit", I found with some practice I started getting around with just the mouse in Lumion pretty effectively.
Here are the options I'm finding I use most often:
View Direction is controlled by holding the Right Mouse button
Panning (including Up/Down) is controlled by holding the Middle Mouse button
Zooming In/Out is controlled by Scrolling the mouse wheel in and out
(Note: the Shift Accelerator applies to Panning and Zooming)
Doing an "Orbit" can be done by moving the mouse from side to side while alternating between holding down the Middle Mouse button and then switching to the Right mouse button. It takes a bit of practice, but works - start slowly at first.
To do an Orbit to the Right, hold down the Right Mouse Button and move the mouse to the left. Then switch to holding down the Middle mouse button and moving the mouse to the Right. You end up getting a back and forth motion as you Orbit.
To do an Orbit to the Left, hold down the Right Mouse Button and move the mouse to the right. Then switch to holding down the Middle Mouse button and moving the mouse to the Left.
It helps when you Pan to slightly overshoot the "center of attention" beyond the cursor.
Hope this helps - keep those cards and letters coming!
