How do I get the background alpha mask to be transparent?
In billboards and in videos?

Hi Dean

Images saved as PNG or TGA with the background as transparent (alpha mask) will be displayed in Lumion with the background as transparent.

Lumion does not support keying or transparency in videos (MP4) used as a Standard Material -> Color Map texture.

Is it in the wish list to include transparency in videos? This would be huge.

Hi Dean

It is.

I suppose I should add that even though the feature is in the Wishlists, whether it gets to be part of Lumion and when that might occur, is up to the developers and all the demands from the mix of different features that could be part of Lumion.

What type of video resources that require transparency do you see would make it "huge"?

I still can't get the transparency to work. I've tried tga and png.

Hi Dean

Is the PNG saved with alpha, as a 32 bit image?

Here's an example, PNG image and SketchUp file.  Import the SketchUp file and transparency is read automatically.  For a Billboard, use Material Editor --> Billboard (to always face camera).

Attach your files if still having problems.
