Manoeuvring Camera

Hi,
  two camera questions:

Firstly, holding down Shift allows the camera to move extra fast. Is there a key to move extra slowly (ie for small, accurate camera positioning). I'm trying to focus on details but it's proving tricky.

Secondly, I'd like to do a shot where I look straight down at the floor and move the camera along. It seems that the camera won't point completely vertically down, so then using the 'camera up' key to move it along the corridor results in the camera slowly rising in height over its journey...

Hi derekjackson, in Lumion 3 it is possible to move the camera in very small increments, so I'm guessing that you are using Lumion 2.5?

Hi, yes, forgot to say - still on 2.1.

And any tricks for looking straight down / up in the model? (Other than rotating the whole scene by a few degrees around the horizontal axis, of course...) :)

Hi derekjackson, if the camera in Lumion could reach +/-90 degrees, it would spin around uncontrollably. The reason for this phenomenon is explained here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimbal_lock

Gimbal Lock is a common problem in real-time 3D when the camera uses Euler angles instead of Quarternions. I guess the developers haven't received enough complaints from customers about this issue to justify spending time on converting the camera angles to quarternions.

Hi barmadjar,

1) Are you using a laptop PC?

2) Please disconnect any USB devices, in particular tablets, and try again.
