Hi Babe,

I first create a 'face me' component in Sketchup by applying a .PNG file as a material.

Export this as a Collada file.

Import this into Lumion. (Add new Model)

Then from custom materials select 'Billboard'.

Cheers

Hi Babe,

Select the object and use the rotate tool. If you hold the left mouse button down
you will be able to 'toggle' between rotation planes.

What Derek says. If you have a little experience with the Rotate tool in SketchUp, it is easy.

Here is a little tutorial I wrote about the different alignment methods of the Rotate tool: http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/37-beginner/136-aligning-the-rotate-and-protractor-tools

Also, though I am not sure if this matters from SketchUp to Lumion, but it does matter where the component origin (later pivot point in Lumion) is so probably you should make sure to correctly place it to where you wish the billboard to rotate around. Here is a little video I also made earlier.

Thanx very much Derek & Gaieus , for your help

There is NO-WAY i can lift the image up using the rotate tool, there's no option available.

SUs ALL-IN-ONE rotate tool makes me ill...............imagine that rotate tool in Lumion ?

----------------------

Iv bank rotated the image in lumion no problem, and using the clip slider i can remove the background.
but using the Billboard makes the image Dissapear , but i suppose thats because of the incorrect angle.

so im in a Bad-Mood..........and they forgot my xmas icon  :'(

hi babe,

you need a helping box to rotate 2d planes for the first rotate, so you can alignview the rotate tool over the side

Hi,

I also tried it, but in my case despite using a png I see the white background. How to eliminate the white background in SU ?
thanks for your support

@Babe: unless we date and I can show you live (which my wife would rather hate) I cannot really suggest more than that tutorial (or what Derek had already posted before).

Maybe another way (leaving the Rotate tool out):

1. Turn the viewport to "Front" in SU (Camera > Standard views)
2. Import the image that way...

Now it will come in "standing". Note however that you need to explode the image entity (righ click > Explode) to make it a real face with the image applied as material. Otherwise (though I have not tried) I doubt it will work in Lumion.
_______

@Mideast: It is not enough to use a png image: you also need to make sure that that white background is replaced with a transparent background. This needs to be done in a photo editing software like PhotoShop or Gimp.

Hi Babe,

I'm probably going off topic here a little, but there's a great free plugin (but you pay per use) for SU that cuts out complicated shapes such as trees so that you get a transparent background and accurate shadows.

http://www.smustard.com/script/ImageProfile

I previously used a program called SU Podium and I created all my own 'cut-out' trees using this plugin.
