hi there,

i'm considering buying a license for lumion. as i can't afford the pro license i would buy the standard license. my question now is:

- will updates be free for standard license customers?

- will there be new objects for standard license customers when updates appear ?

as a landscape architect student i really love the trees lumion can provide and it would be great when there will be updates for the standard customers so you don't always have to use the same objects.

sorry if my questions are already answered on some info page.

greetings
Carl

Hi Carl, updates are free until the next major upgrade. In other words, upgrading from Lumion 2 to 3 in late 2012 will incur a fee, but all other maintenance updates should be free (As an example, 2.0 to 2.1 to 2.2 have been free updates).

Yes, the standard version of Lumion has about 1/3 of the Lumion Pro Model Library, so if it grows by x amount, we aim to provide roughly 1/3 of the new models in the standard version (excluding certain high-quality Pro-only models). Just bear in mind that we do not always include new models in every minor update.

Here are some screenshots of the models in the 2 versions:

as a landscape architect student.
We do offer an educational version of Lumion. There will be an announcement regarding this as soon as the next update of Lumion is ready (we're beta testing it at the moment). In the mean time, feel free to contact [email protected] for more information.

-will the update fee be the full price of the software or can you say how much it will be? how much was it from version 1 to 2?

-i'm planning to use lumion in commercial aspects besides my university use. i guess the educational license won't cover that?

The upgrade from v1 to v2 was about 1/3 of the full price of a license.

You're right, the educational version is for non-commercial use only.

one last question: i'm thinking about waiting to buy the standard license when version 3 appears as my semester is almost over and in the summer hollidays i won't be able to use lumion.

the question now is:  will the pricing for the lumion 3.0 standard license be the same as it is now for 2.2?  when it'll be more expensive i would buy the 2.2 version now. and can you roughly say which month is planned for the version 3 release?

As far as I have been informed, there are no plans to increase the price of Lumion "Standard" but just to avoid potential lawsuits I should add a disclaimer stating that Act-3D B.V., like any other business, reserves the right to change the prices of its products without notice :)

and can you roughly say which month is planned for the version 3 release?

Probably November/December (Version 1 was released on 30 Nov 2010 and version 2 was released around Dec 15 2011).
