Topic: Lumion Network Rendering

Hi

New Lumion user here. The software is absolutely amazing. Very easy to import, setup, and create quality renders and animations.

My question is if there are any plans for network rendering. It would be nice to be able to render an animation in a quarter of the time it took me to render my last one, which was approximately 8 hours.

Is this possible with the gpu based rendering system now in place.

Instead of a networking render how about just release a version of lumion that renders only. So if I have a licsense I can install the render program on several machines to render frame ranges. Then put them together. That way I can still be working on other projects in the software with a single licsense.

From an earlier post you stated you did'nt want people to build in the free version and render in the pro but this is he opposite of that. Only one person can build but you can render on multiple pcs.  This would improve productivity greatly.

+1 for the render only version, and a suggestion. Multi-GPU support has been asked for before, and it seems to me that's a tricky one to implement in Lumion. But maybe an intermediate and in my case totally helpful step would be to support rendering on a secondary GPU or GFX-card while a another one remains available for active tasks, like modeling. Might we see that in future versions? Or is this somehow possible already?

A: No, the problem is not so much the gpu but it's more the way the gpu driver captures resources. We haven't been able to find a method to do rendering without crippling the rest of the OS. My guess this is on driver level. Of course he can always try. Maybe virtualized it might work. I don't know exactly.

My machine works very well with Lumion processing in the background while I'm working with large file in 3dsmax.
Can I make up the same time rendering in 3dsmax.
For this, I set the affinity to use 3dsmax 7 cores (CPU), releasing a nucleus for other applications such as Lumion, Internet, etc..

I think it would be great if Lumion would use all the power of more than one video card in the same machine, or plates with more processors.

For starters 3ds max is a CPU intensive application. Lumion is a GPU intensive application. Better said Lumion runs like a video game therefore you can't or shouldn't run more than one game at once but switching between lumion and any other non game program will work just fine.

Well then that depends on what your working on.  Try running two Lumions on the same machine.
