Hello...I recently downloaded the free version to try on a Lenovo Thinkstation and it won't even get past the bench-marking stage. Here are my specs. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!!!

Lenovo Thinkstation E32
Intel Xeon @ 3.40 GHz
Win 7 64-bit
Quadro K600 Graphics.

Hi.  Thanks for your interest in Lumion.

Presume that is a K600 and not a K6000.

Have you checked whether Lumion can run on your Thinkstation?  The K600 Passmark is only 57% of the minimum required to run Lumion.

Please refer further:

Thanks for the reply...as it looks, I may have to upgrade my graphics card first. This new PC is quite slow!

Yes, that will be required.

You can keep the K600 for other CAD work, and just add a more powerful (GTX or Radeon) GPU, and then assign it for use of Lumion.

I note the Thinkstation specs mention that it includes an Intel® HD Graphics P4600, so that may be running Lumion by default and you would need to check (if not done so) that the K600 is assigned in the NVIDIA Control Panel to run Lumion.  Even so, as previously mentioned, the K600 is well below minimum requirements for Lumion.

Great suggestions...thanks for looking into the capabilities of my Thinkstation. What graphics card would you recommend??...besides the titan black. Something that will handle anything Lumion can throw at it but something that is affordable. Thanks!

Good question, try clicking on Price performance on this page.

The GTX 780 and 770 seem to rate highly on that scale and are a lot more affordable than the Titan cards (albeit with less onboard memory).

Don't forget that you'll need a beefy power supply as well :)

I'm thinking about 600w.....that should be enough?

The 600W is minimum suggested by NVIDIA for a GTX 770 or 780, so that means add more  :-D.

It looks like the Thinkstation has something like a 450W PSU.  :o

I would say at least 700W or better 750W.  It's always better to have the capacity, and sustained capacity is better for long period usage eg rendering a scene over night where the GPU may be at 90% or above for a long period.

Also, make sure that the mainboard supports the graphics card you're thinking about buying.

You may need to google a bit and/or contact the manufacturer to be on the safe side.
