Does this mean we will be able to apply a movie / film / news (as MP4 texture) to a TV set? This would really bring internal scenes to life. Perhaps you could even have a setting to allow you change channels by changing the screen texture. Just a thought. ;)

What's wrong with MP4?

Not the first format that comes to mind for textures. For example currently I have no software that produces MP4 other than Lumion.

You're welcome to suggest other formats in the Wish List section.

(I guess MP4 was the most convenient format for the developers to implement as it's already supported in the Movie export function)

Here is a "hack" how to do it in VirtualDub (free): http://twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=16818#p16818

Edit: and wow, I completely missed this animated texture announcement!!! Now if it also could import the sound of a film clip, that would be ultimately awesome (I guess in a video full of sounds, you cannot attach a rooster sound to BBC news for instance)
:D

Hehe indeed :)

By the way, and this is not just to you but to everyone, please remember to post feature request for future versions of Lumion, either in the Wish List section if you have a commercial or educational license - or in the following thread if you are using Lumion Free:

Hi morton, and everyone. I just remembered something that i hoped would be implemented in the future and i want to know if it is available in lumion 3: which is the ability to save your own model and / or your own texture in the models or materials slot inside lumion. It woul be so cool to make your own category and call it favorates an place textures that you bought from cgtextures or other websites. I know the feature is already there but what i meant the ability to put it in the texture library area so that you can pick up that material you always use and use it in any project you are working on.

Any chance thats gonna be available in the new lumion ? I think it would save a lot of time if you use many materials and you dont need the built in mats.

Thank you :)
Sorry for asking alot but im so excited :p

No, this will not be available in Lumion 3.0.

However, there will be a new function:

New 'Load/Save material set' function: You can now save materials in a scene to a file, and then automatically apply those materials to another imported model provided that they use the same material names in your 3D modelling application.
