And... will it be possible to apply reflections to a curved surface?

hey, i red it in a different post. its a plane surface reflection so it wont work on curved surfaces unfortunetly. but i think getting plane reflections is really great start and its like a bonus option for us :)

Effect in build mode are possible with current version too. All you have to do is enter movie mode and then go to theater mode. What's so special about it?

No one will build his project with an enabled Dof or even painting effect except he smokes weed or so lol.

if you were to pick an effect for a movie (animation) yea it might not be helpful to have it enabled in build mode. but if i want to take one shot and render it with the effect, having the effect enabled helps a lot in choosing the right options and the right camera angle . . . .etc

just my opinion :P

Yes, Aaron's 8 tree cluster models + 3 tree trunk models. There are some renderings of them in one of my earlier posts (see image 007):
http://lumion3d.com/forum/new-features-wish-list/vegetation-without-trunk-and-90-turn/msg39926/#msg39926

These tree cluster models are intended for use as a shortcut for making distant forests/woodland, so that you don't bring your PC to it's knees by placing individual trees.
It's currently working the same way as in 2.5, i.e. only on the 'native' Lumion terrain. I hope the developers will consider overhauling this after 3.0 is released.

+10 for this, morten......regards stan

A hint for new release launch could be: render the same scenes used for 2.5 presentation in home page to show results in 3.0!
Differences should immediately show up!

Hi Michael, in Lumion 3.0, almost all Weather/Sky/Cloud/Fog/Camera/Shadow settings have been made into Movie effects which can either be applied to video clips or copy-pasted to the Photo section which now has its own effects stack.

Since you no longer have access to all those settings in Build mode, it's useful to have a button that lets you view Build mode with all effects turned on.

Apart from being able to see the Weather/Sky/Cloud/Fog/Camera/Shadow settings, another example is the ability to be able to modify reflective materials while the Reflection effect is visible.

Yes, you're right - this would demonstrate the difference that the new planar reflections, global illumination, clouds etc can make to a scene.

Ship wakes. Fantastic. Thanks Truls.

The image was rendered by Aaron. The ship wakes are not a feature in Lumion, but rather one of his um... creative creations :)

I really wonder if we're gonna be able to control the reflection rate of these planar reflections. I hope that planar reflections didn't only come for mirrors or other 99.9% reflective metals.

Hi portrait, planar reflections rely on the reflectivity parameters of materials in your scene, so if you apply this effect to a wooden floor, the veins of the wood will distort the reflection and the Reflectivity slider of the wooden material will let you adjust the reflection amount.

I'm also very curious about the unexpected, but very welcomed feature, 3D sounds. Are they going to be movable? Walking&talking guys, flying&singing birds would create an incredible atmosphere!

It's currently not possible to move the 3D sounds during animations, but I have asked Ferry if he wants to implement this (we're going to need it anyway at some point, e.g. engine sounds for moving cars etc). For this to work, it would also have to be made possible to select more than one 'object' (sound/model etc) while animating things in your scene.
