Hello all,

It took me so long to figure out where to post! I spent a ton of time searching through the knowledge base, very confusing. Anyway, My company is interested in buying a floating license and I understand you need an internet connection to access. Still, we have a few questions:

Is there a limit to how many computers can share 1 license? (I think I read there is no limit)
Is the license recurring or one-off purchase? (the 3500 for the pro is that yearly?)
How long do you get updates when buying a license? (some companies offer 3-4 versions per license)

Side note I wanted to build an urban environment similar to the attached image. Is there a way to generate the sidewalks and street as a paint or geometry solely in Lumion? I haven't found a way to, We want to build a scene similar to this. I want to know how much geometry I would need to import and what I can use from the standard Lumion library. Are all the concrete building imported geometry or could you recreate this with JUST Lumion?

Thanks for reading/replying everyone, have a great day!

Welcome, Sean - and thanks for your interest in Lumion.

Is there a limit to how many computers can share 1 license? (I think I read there is no limit)

You're right, you can install Lumion on as many computers as you want. The number of seats you've purchased determines how many Lumion sessions you can have open at the same time.

When you start up Lumion, a seat from the pool will be locked and when you quit Lumion the seat is released again.

Is the license recurring or one-off purchase? (the 3500 for the pro is that yearly?)
How long do you get updates when buying a license? (some companies offer 3-4 versions per license)

Please see this article:

Knowledge Base article: How do Lumion updates work?

Once you've paid for a version 8 license you can use this version for as long as you want. You do not have to update to version 9.

The annual upgrades that are released in quarter 4 every year incur an upgrade fee of about 33% of the price of a full license.

During the version 8 product cycle there have been 2 free updates for version 8 license-holders, i.e. 8.3 and 8.5, but this number varies from year to year.

Is there a way to generate the sidewalks and street as a paint or geometry solely in Lumion?

No, there's no 3D modelling functionality in Lumion.

I want to know how much geometry I would need to import and what I can use from the standard Lumion library.

I'd recommend checking out this article to see what's available:

Knowledge Base article: Which models are available in the Model Library?

You might also want to check out the Lumion 8 Pro Trial version which includes the full model and material libraries:

Knowledge Base article: Is there a Trial version of Lumion?

Are all the concrete building imported geometry or could you recreate this with JUST Lumion?

No, you'd need to create the model in your 3D modelling software.

have a great day!

You too!
