btw, i have placed the reflection ball in the middle of my view..trying to experiment with it. could this be causing a different look when rendering?

Hi Bob, can you post 1 screenshot of what the scene looks like in Build mode, and 1 rendering (using Photo mode), so we can see for ourselves what's different?

P.S. Not sure if this is what you're talking about but to update the reflections after moving the Reflection Control object, you'll either have to adjust one of the sky sliders in the Weather section or press CTRL + U.

The reflections are also updated when you render your movie in 2/3-Star quality.

Also, once we have your screenshot + the corresponding rendering, we might be able to help if you upload the Scene files only (no library files are required) with the camera view that is causing you difficulties (Press CTRL + 1 to save the camera view in slot 1 before you save and upload the scene).

ok. thanks. i will upload the scene. it is very strange because it looks the way i want it to look in build mode, i switch to take an image and it still looks the same. Once i select a resolution and it initiates, the image suddenly changes. The reflections, shadows, ambient light, lights... everything looks different.

Hi Bob, thanks for uploading the scene files.

Lighting
When you made the screenshot, did you press F8 to turn on real-time shadows, so that you could preview what the lighting and the shadows would look like on the final rendering? I've got a feeling that F8 might have been turned off. This means that the lighting passes unhindered through all the objects. In addition, I think you might accidentally have placed the spot lights above the ceiling (I'd need your Library files to confirm if this is the case). The result would be that when you render an image in Photo mode, real-time shadows are turned on, but because the spot lights are placed inside the roof, you don't actually see any lighting from those light sources.

Reflections
If you lower the lights (and make sure that F8 is turned on), the amount of reflection that you see in Build mode should be the same as rendering that viewpoint in Photo/Movie mode.

If it still doesn't look right, you're welcome to upload the Library file(s) and send me a download link via email (morten [at] act-3d.com).
