Hi Guys,

Just a quick question in terms of licensing

We use both Lumion 5.7.2 and Lumion 6. We are looking to upgrade everybody to Lumion 6 eventually and have tested with a few users.

We have 2 Purchased licences for use of Lumion 6 and it appears to work fine on one machine, but when you try to load up Lumion on the second machine it is saying that the licence is already in use and won't allow you to go any further even though we have two licences for Lumion 6.

We have a new Licence code (for fresh installs of verison 6) and an upgrade licence code (to move from 5 to 6), is there anything we have to do with the upgrade licence code? As we can't see anywhere to add it in to... or am I barking up the wrong tree?  :-[ ???

Kind Regards,

RC

Hi RC, the way the license system works is that the license is part of the installation files. So if you want to be able to use both licenses on a PC, you'd have to download and install Lumion twice (using the separate Download Manager from each license email). The Lumion license server then ensures that you can't run more than one instance of Lumion for each license.

If you prefer a single license with two seats (i.e. one set of installation files as opposed to two) instead of the two separate licenses you currently have, my colleagues at office [at] act-3d.com can convert the two licenses to one license with two seats. This is usually a more flexible solution if you need to run Lumion on many different PCs. Then you only have to install Lumion once on each PC, and the license server will then take care of the rest, i.e. locking one seat when you start up Lumion on a PC and unlocking the seat when you shut down Lumion again on that PC.

Does this make sense?

P.S. Please don't forget to click on your forum profile, scroll to the bottom and register your 2 licenses, so that you get access to the full forum for commercial users.

Hi Morten,

Thank you for your quick reply

I think I wasn't being very clear haha

Basically we have (in essence) 3 licences;

2 licences are being used to upgrade 5.7.2 to version 6
1 licence is being used for a fresh version 6 install

We can install the fresh version 6 Lumion fine, but obviously we only have one licence for this
How can we upgrade our Lumion 5.7.2 versions to version 6 in order for the "upgrade 5 to 6" licences to take effect, because at this moment in time, we can only run a single instance of Lumion 6 even though in effect, we have 3 licences

I will also register our licence's now to get the full range of Forum support :)

Kind Regards,

Matt

Hi Matt, I would recommend that you forward the 3 Lumion 6 licenses (including proof of purchase) to my colleagues at office [at] act-3d.com, and ask them to convert them to a single license with 3 seats. This is a far better solution when you have more than 1 license.

Make sure you uninstall all existing Lumion 6 installations when you receive the new email with the 3-seat Lumion 6 license. Using the Download Manager in that email, you can install Lumion 6 on as many PCs as you want. Our license server will then ensure that Lumion 6 can only run on 3 PCs at a time.

If you need to install Lumion 5 after your licenses were converted, just run the Download Managers from the 2 original Lumion 5 emails. As Activation Code in the Download Manager, simply enter the code from new Lumion 6 email (with the 3-seat license).

Let us know if you have any other questions.
