Hello all, I'm loving the latest instalment of lumion so much so I'm considering buying. But i can't work out if my MAC laptop is capable, if i put windows on and use bootcamp .the graphics card passmark is no where near what you are recommending although its only a year old and is a an i7. it works really well with sketchup and big models and maya (but i'm just learning that and haven't pushed it)
2.66 intel Core i7
8gb
Geforce gt 330m 512mb
if you think it will run to a satisfactory standard what windows will i need?
Anybody else out there work on a Mac? would be good to see other set ups?
cheers chris

Hi Chris, Lumion mainly uses the graphics card for rendering images/movies, and with just 489 PassMark points, your card is unfortunately not a great match for Lumion:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GT+330M

However, the only way to find out for sure is to download Lumion Free and import your SketchUp models. For comparison, on my MacBook Pro which ships with an Nvidia 320M card, the graphics card driver crashes when I try to render images/movies. Your MacBook is slightly newer though, so perhaps you'll have more luck.

We recommend using Lumion in a Windows 7 64-bit environment. The 32-bit version of Lumion only lets applications use 3.5Gb ram, whereas the 64-bit version doesn't have that restriction. Windows 7 is also a lot more stable than previous versions of Windows, and if the graphics card driver does crash, Windows 7 is usually able to recover without problems.

ok thats not so great!!
Lumion is the first program that has made me want to switch back to Windows. I've seen from other posts that your not in any hurry to make a mac version. But can I put my big hairy hand up  and shout loudly that you should.
Anyway i'll look in on the forums evey now and then and see how your getting on...... :'(
goodbye
farewell
till the mac version  - Lumion 6

Hi Cmeed
I too fell in love with lumion and I'm 100% mac. Architect expert user of archicad and artlantis I decided to go on lumion for animations and C4D and Vray for still images. That said lumion also excellent for exterior views. I bought an Ultimate version which runs perfectly on my imac i7 3.4GHz 16go ram with 2GB video card with Windows 7 in bootcamp. The application is an incredible stability, I tried on my macbook pro 512mb video card with i7. Lumion runs very well on condition to switch lower resolution and quality. Of course the rendering are obviously longer, but the application is stable and in the end can be used lumion on macbookpro
I hope one day that lumion will be on mac

Chris, someone else is using the i5 version of your MacBook but with the same GT 330M graphics card:

Render times are extremely long (22 seconds per frame), but at least it seems to work without crashing the driver.

I know it really poor! Lumion works with the graphics card where a mac (if i remember right)sends some of the graphics processing through the chip so my i7 looks good on other programes but here its not so.....  ::).
I really want Father Christmas to come back and give me a different toy!

Peterm is right, it most likely means that your graphics card has run out of memory. Try Settings -> Low Memory Mode, and let us know if that helps.
