[Answered] How to set orbit TARGET

I know how to Orbit around but I cannot figure out how to set the orbit TARGET. Sometimes my target is out in space and it gets frustrating trying to maneuver. If I knew how to select my "target" point it would be much less frustrating.

Thanks.

Hi John, the Orbit function will make the camera orbit around whichever point is at the middle of the screen (in the crosshairs area), provided that it's pointing at a "valid" surface, e.g. a model or the terrain when you hold down O while moving the mouse around with the right mouse button held down. It won't work if you point the crosshairs at the sky for example.

Is this not working as expected at your end?

When i have an "arrow" on the screen (not crosshairs), the O selection doesn't rotate around where my "Arrow" is located. That's the problem I'm having.

Ah, I see (arrow = the mouse cursor).

Thanks for clarifying that.

Unfortunately that won't work. The Orbit function is hardcoded to work with the crosshairs at the centre of the viewport but thanks for the suggestion. :)

So the only way I see any "Crosshairs" are when I'm doing object selection. So if I'm not in object selection mode i don't have crosshairs I only have an arrow. Is there an easy way to go to the crosshair mode?

The Orbit camera will work in all modes but I should have mentioned that the crosshairs will also appear in Movie mode and in Photo mode the moment you hold down the right-mouse button.
