Hi John, the Orbit function will make the camera orbit around whichever point is at the middle of the screen (in the crosshairs area), provided that it's pointing at a "valid" surface, e.g. a model or the terrain when you hold down O while moving the mouse around with the right mouse button held down. It won't work if you point the crosshairs at the sky for example.
Is this not working as expected at your end?
