Im my opinion 750€ for a yearly upgrade is really to much.
Even my 3dsmax subscription is not that expensive.
If I do a rough calculation all this stuff really sums up for my business.
3dsmax 650€ + 750€ lumion + 100€ for other licenses. A lot of money only to stay up to date once a year. Not even included some hardware or new software.
And I do a small business. Not to imagine what this would costs for other studios.
I agreed, but we maybe right or wrong. We all need to rethink about our ways to make money. IMHO the key is, how could the new feature able to created my new services/products or lessen the working hours and workflow:
1.) Export to scene viewer for real-time 3D presentations - creating new services for us, of course! It may be very interesting for those land developers. We can present many schematic designs and compare in real-time. Some one with real creative can even sell/distribute famous virtual buildings or whatever he can imagine to mass now!
2.) Output for compositing purposes - This will change the whole animation quality for sure, this is huge!!!!
3.) New Movie effects - potential to getting everything done without post-processing for tight deadline.
And I think these pro feature can payback for its cost/subscription in just a few projects. And less V-RAY is possible
Some people in our firm is queing to re-evaluated this new Lumion
And thanks Lumion for this very brave decision!
It's a good sign that Lumion didn't just happy with old ultimate features.
And the policy about fast development, let's keep release exciting things to the industry!
