How do I select objects that are aligned

When a lot of objects are aligned, the icons for movement, deletion, etc. are aligned as well.  I tried doing a Ctrl + Drag but I am unable to select only the desired object (even objects outside the drag box are selected).  Since every imported object requires a unique name I tried to find the option to select by name but that feature seems to be missing.  What to do?

If they are alligned you need to use advanced move to still move them. To go to advanced move go to normal move and press ESC in that mode you can move objects by clicking the object itself instead of its icon. Press R for rotate and H for up down.
