I've been working on a model in Trial Version and it looks really good. Will I be able to use this model when I purchase Lumion? What are the steps to take prior to my trial period ending to get the most out of this model so I can later import it  / or open it up in a Registered version?

Hey John, so as I mentioned in the other support topic, scenes that are prepared in Lumion Trial cannot be opened in the commercial version of Lumion.

However, the good news is that the imported model you've been working on can be opened in the commercial version of Lumion.

Once you've installed the commercial version, all you need to do is to move the imported model files (there are up to 4) from:
Documents/LumionTrial 7.0/Library

To:
Documents/Lumion 7.0/Library

The next time you start up the commercial version of Lumion, the model will then appear in the 'Imported Model' browser window, and you've be able to place it in your scene.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

will my materials I've assigned to the model remain in place?

Yes, they will.

By the way, if you'd like to check out the fully functional commercial version of Lumion with the entire model and material libraries instead of the small and rather limited Trial version you're currently using, I'd recommend downloading Lumion Pro Trial (not to be confused with Lumion Trial). It gives you 7 days of unlimited use and is only available from your local reseller - instructions are available in the following article:

Knowledge Base article: Is there a Trial version of Lumion?

Scenes prepared in the Lumion Pro Trial version are 100% compatible with the commercial version.
