Hi all!

One of my customers bought an Acer Predator GX-792-72U8 laptop last year and uses it to run Lumion. Currently she uses Lumion 7, and wants to upgrade to version 8, but she experiences a high CPU usage when changing textures in a big project. Everytime she changes a texture, the software freezes for like 1-3 seconds before it continues.

The specs should be sufficient as both the CPU and GPU are all within the PassMark score that she asked me about last year:

- CPU: Intel Core i7 7820HK (Base: 2.90 GHz / Turbo: 3.90 GHz / PassMark: 10278)
- Memory: 32 GB
- SSD + HDD: 512 GB SSD + 1x 1 TB HDD
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 - 8 GB GDDR5X (PassMark: 11982)

Are there maybe any settings that can be changed to lower the CPU usage?

Thanks in advance!

Hi IT-Inspired, that's a great laptop; if I'm not mistaken, my colleague Peter has got the same model.

The delay you're describing is normal behaviour.

In complex projects with lots of materials, the delay when assigning materials to a model can be even longer, so 1-3 seconds is nothing to worry about.

Just to be sure we're on the same page, when you say 'textures', do you mean assigning a texture to the 'ColorMap' slot in a 'Standard' material - or assigning a material to the model?

And just a couple of small questions to add:
1. What is the 3D Points count (Lumion Performance Monitor top right of screen) in Build Mode?
2. Roughly how many Lumion materials have been applied to the model?
