I'm Trying to get a some opinions and advice from people who understand 3d Visualizations for an upcoming Project. Its kind of a thought exercise that if doable will become a 3d Viz, with Lumion, as well as reason for my Company to Purchase Lumion.
The Project is to do a FLYOVER, as in a Helicopter flying over a project and landing on it (Helipad on a Parking Garage). All I have is a small Point Cloud of the Project Building the few Surrounding Buildings from our Survey Department. I want the scene to be 3d populated, flying over a top down Google earth image won’t cut it. There are NO models of the existing buildings surrounding the site in Google earth, there are a few decent ¾ Bird’s Eye Images from Bing, but no Panoramas that could be used as HDRi.
Some of the people in the Office are Modeling the Project Building from the Point Cloud, I then have to then take that and Compile it into a Rendered Flyover. I know that Lumion can't import and Visualize a Point Cloud, thus it had to be modeled.
My question is what is the best way to go about making this? Try to have ¾ Birds Eye Images match the angle of approach and just cut the video in such a way that you avoid turning in the frame and then fade to a new scene with a different Birds Eye Image and new Angle of approach to see a different side of the Project Building? Or just use a Top Down Satellite Image as the Base and Model Simple white Mass Buildings for the Surrounding Site and just Texture the Project Building then do the Flyover? I even Tried looking for Pre Existing Helicopter Footage of the Area, like on a Tour, that I could Splice in for the Beginning and end. Ideally I'd like this to look as realistic as possible, trying to impress here.
Project is Outlined in Red.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Please Note This would be done in FREE Lumion to serve as a Proof of Concept and spur conversation as to Purchasing a Pro Version.
