a question - i have an option to buy GTX460 2Gb OR HD6950 2Gb - what is better for Lumion from this two positions?

Well the HD6950 is probably 30% faster but I think also more expensive.

Hi ferry I'm really surprised. These graphic cards and cheaper than mine (Quadro 4000 2Gb, over 1900 €) and it seems to be better for Lumion.... Cry

I know. Quadro's are expensive and they are primairily expensive because the target audience has cash. Of course apparently they stand heat better BUT they are also much slower then mainstream cards. And many manufacturars play into the cards since if you order a professional machine you often can't even buy a normal card.

 

I did create a fix today which might solve some problems with the Quardro 4000. Lets hope that is the case.

i know that HD6950 more expensive, but here (where i live) i have only that options in near stores ))) GTX460 or HD6950 with the same 2Gb memory size

god damn...Lumion is more game engine than CAD application - that's why yours quadros so slow in it than gaming cards produced for games!!! how much times it must be said to all users with quadro to UNDERSTAND that?

Lumion isn't only a game engine rendering…

but not a CAD. is not it? and developers recommended GTX580 as the best solution for rendering and workin in Lumion - not Quadro...just gaming cards.

and i wish to Lumion to stay as it is, with new features of course - and with SLI/CrossFire support

dream about QuadSLI from GTX580....12Gb of DDR5 ram...and small nuclear power plant around to make that monsters works Laugh

Humbly, Do you know exactly what's CAD software and RENDERING one? first step is making models in CAD software (AutoCAD, Bonzai, Skp, Rhino, MIcrostation…..) for post producing in render programs (3DMAX, Luxion, Bunkspeed, Octane, Luxology, Vred, Zrender, Arion, Rendition…..) and for landscaping (Lumion, Vue, Bryce, Cry…..)

 

so we use all of this programs to finalize one or our projects…is normal we look for the best one and faster one in our job. We're testing Lumion from beginning and trying to adapt our processing to the actual limits.

 

our hardware are Nvidia cards, Ati cards, tesla cards in differents models and memory, so you must understand we also claim to can use all our hardware as well as they can do it.

If you use sketchup and max only sometimes dont spend your money on a Quadro card!

I would like to know if Lumion benefits with a 5870 4GB. Does Lumion fill all 4Gb or uses only the first processor and 2GB?

Do you think that a GTX 580 3GB is better? I ordered it but not arrived yet (in Italy)

Lumion just aks directx for memory. The driver then is up to the job of giving it. I think the 580 gtx is probably still the fastest to render Lumion scenes.

you're talking about Gainward GTX 5800 Phantom? did you tested ATI FirePro V9800? 1600 streaming cores!!
