I must say this Lumion free is a bit frustrating. I do have a good computer, 16 gig of RAM (I work on 3ds max and revit with no problem) but Lumion is so slow.

There is no place to find out why my swimming pool has terrain in it. If I elevate it, I elevate the entire house.

I'm about to give up.

Anybody in Los Angeles?

Free or educational version?  And which version exactly, so we know what you are working with?

Lumion does most of it's work on the GPU.  What are the rest of your PC specifications, re GPU and CPU?

but i can live with that.

It's the navigation that is very frustrating. I am on the birdview and have no way to go back down. Why isn't there a home view where it positions the view form the front of the model like any other respected 3d software? Or at least a save view that we can go anytime we are lost????

Im not sure if this is worth buying to me.

I had such high hopes.

a lot has changed since Lumion 3. I would contact a local reseller - to see if you can get your hands on a trial of Version 5

I found the navigation frustrating at first, as it was just a little different than SketchUp - But it just take time behind the wheel -- Now it is a breeze :)

As far as the grass in your pool - my guess would be - lock your model position, then go into landscape, select the smallest brush - and push down the terrain under your pool.

Hi ldf, as Chuck suggests there's a much more recent trial version of Lumion which you can get by contacting your local reseller. Version 3.2.1 is like stoneage tech compared to version 5.0 :)

I would also recommend that you watch the video tutorials and read the FAQ posts, especially the three sticky posts at the top of the FAQ section - they're vital to get you started.

I left a few messages to the retailer but they never got back to me. I ended up buying the software, version 5 (not the pro) but I feel a little buyer remorse.

I'm not sure I have resolved my navigating issues. I cannot be precise, even if I use the space bar, the camera never stops when I stop the mouse, sending me lost and wasting my time trying to get to a certain view. I really hope I'm doing something wrong and this is not a characteristic of the software. Hope someone will tell me how to do that.

Also, when I adjust the lights, where did the different rotate axis went? The two little extra wheels?

1.  Is this when you are in Build Mode?

2.  What are your Editor Settings?  Please attach a screencapture of Settings( bottom right hand corner cog wheel button).

3.  Also what are your PC specifications?  Attach your Benchmark (full graph) and DXDiag report from Lumion.

4.  Do you have any other devices attached to the PC such as other drawing tablets, gaming devices, other mouse/navigation wheels?

As you had previously been using V3.2.1 Free you will have used the two little rotation buttons to change Bank and Pitch.

This changed in v4.5.
Please see topic: Rotate Bank and Rotate Pitch.

It is important that the object/s be selected for the dialog to display.  See my reply in:  Pro 4.5 Edit Properties XYZ has disapeared?

And please refer to our:
LUMION 5: Keyboard shortcuts for hotkeys for Rotation, Pitch and Bank.  (Note Plants only have Heading).
