Hello, I'm a landscape designer looking at Lumion for my office. Does anyone know where I can find a full list of tree and plant species used in both Lumion and Lumion Pro versions of the latest version? This would be extremely helpful as showing the correct species is important to us.

Thank you.

Hi ellerygraves

Thanks for the interest in Lumion.  Such a list has been suggested by some other users in the past.

I'll let Morten reply as he looks after the Lumion Library resources.

I presume you have seen the pages displaying all Nature items in the Lumion Library linked from the Specifications page, see View Library links in the Specifications table?

Note that where a plant is not available in the Lumion Library, it is possible to import your own, it becomes part of the Imported Library.  There are some limitations on importing as some plant models are not made for the realtime environment that Lumion uses.  But it does mean you have more flexibility than just those included in the Lumion Library.

Hi ellerygraves, here's a list of the tree species that are currently available in Lumion 5.7.2.
Many of the species come in different variations, e.g. sizes and shapes.

Please note that not all of the trees and plants were made by us, so in some cases we have bene unable to identify the genus and/or species.

Apologies in advance for any typos.

Awesome! Thank you Morten and Peter. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Which types of plant models are the best for importing into Lumion? We would likely want to import specific tree types, such as an "urban" bald cypress or cedar elm. Is there a way to create your own trees?

Thanks again.

Hi ellerygraves, there's no way to create trees in Lumion.

In other words, you need to find a 3rd party supplier (e.g. TurboSquid) or an application (e.g GrowFX) that allows you to design vegetation models.

Once you have found such a supplier/application, you need to make sure that each tree/plant isn't overly complex in terms of the 3D detail level (the number of polygons) and the number and resolution of included textures.

If you don't pay attention to these parameters, your Lumion scene will get too slow to work on and to render.

Once you're happy with the trees/plants, you'll need to import them via FBX or DAE format.

Please note that imported models are static and will not sway in the wind.

I was wanting to know if its possible to get a current list for the trees, plants and flowers for my Lumion Pro 6.  It would assist greatly in some work I am doing with a landscape architect to know what is available and ready in Lumion per the designers plans, and whats not and would have to be acquired or modeled prior to starting these projects.  I would even take or prefer a downloadable text document list, if available, so it wouldn't have to be recreated in the forum as a post by Morten.  Is this possible?  Thanks!

Hello, I am currently as a landscape designer working on models in Lumion 7.0 Pro.
We are impressed by the large range of plants that are available it is very comprehensive, but some plants which we suggest in our design proposals are not available in the library.

Would there be any way to extend the Lumion plants library, expect for downloading/buying the models individually from 3d party websites and importing them by ourselves?

For example an "Add-on" which would allow is to download/buy a set of plants which would be commonly used in Asia etc.

Thanks,

Bert

Hi Bert, there are no add-on model packs for Lumion.

Some of our customers have bought trees/plants from 3rd party websites.

Others have made their own models in GrowFX, Xfrog and SpeedTree. Just bear in mind that models from those applications will be static, i.e. they won't sway in the wind in Lumion. For trees/plants to sway in the wind, you'd have to use Speedtree Modeller 5.1.1.

By the way, please don't forget to register one of your Lumion licenses at the bottom of your forum profile page (a license can be registered with multiple forum accounts). Doing so will give you access to the full forum for commercial users which is hidden from view until you register a license.

In that part of the forum, there is also a dedicated Feedback & Ideas section where you can post suggestions for specific tree/plant species.
