For when Lumion for MAC

Today I stumbled on this wonderful piece of software. Never knew about it, but I must confess that it was really amazing.

But I'm a mac user, archicad user, and MODO 601 user. In order to use this software I need windows, but I don't want to, so...

for when can we see a piece of this amazing software in other platforms???

Hi ruivenda, welcome to the Lumion forum.

Why don't you install Windows via Bootcamp in iOS? It's straightforward and all that is required space on your harddrive for Windows.

Once you've done that you'll be able to run Lumion on your Mac - assuming that the hardware and graphics card are powerful enough :)

I know we can use windows, although we not want to. We started using MAC's in order to reduce price in software licences and upgrades of softwares that in windows are much more expensive then for mac, namely the OS itselft and iWork among other pices of software we use.

in long term, mac hardware can be less expensive that a windows machine to, so is not an option to buy a lot of windows licences that cost tooo much to obtain and mantain.

I hope one day we can explore Lumion on a native mac os app, like other vendors are starting to develop, like Autodesk, Nemetschek, Luxology, Graphisoft and so many others...

MAC's always have been the computer of choice for creatives and drafters and designers, and I believe that Lumion is a great piece of creative genius... so... we all are waiting for that day to arrive soon.

Sorry, but you will be waiting forever for that day - there are no plans to make an OSX version of Lumion, and it's too much work for a small company like Act-3D to maintain 2 different versions of Lumion (Windows DirectX vs OSX OpenGL).

Thanks for the information.

As always this matter is a question of taste and preference, so nice to know that there is no interest in develop such a tool.

Even so that's a great app...

I've got a new MacBook Pro 15' Retina Display, and I put it some Windows 8 (beta) with bootcamp
I am about to install Lumion  and let you know how it performed. (This computer is supposed to have top notch specs)
Wish me LUCK :)

As Morten said, Lumion is built on DirectX, which is Windows-only. That pretty much discards any chance of ever seeing an OSX version.

About the cost of upgrading the OS being more on Windows that on OSX... Seriously, if paying a few hundred every several years for Windows seems too much for you, how are you going to pay for Lumion?

Hi tosira, it sounds like we better hire you to manage Act-3D, so we don't make any more stupid mistakes ;)

i totally agree, im a designer and i use a lot of 3d software and always in mac, i also work in a college of designers and 90% of students and workers use mac, except the poor ones, no offense please, is just stadistics, the price of a mac is way higher than the price of a pc
And for the ones saying to run windows in a mac, i dont think is an option, it makes the computer really slow

dcohen,
normally I do never ever go into discussions about the "religions" PC vs. Apple. Your poor/rich attitude shows that your way to a professional designer is very long.
