Hey guys....

I've enjoyed using Lumion for quite some time now, my clients love it, but as clients go, they always want a little more and how soon can they have it. So, if possible, could you give us an indication when we can expect most of the functionality requests become available, particularly the standalone EXE. Thats the most important, then the different camera perspectives (orthographic, etc) and then sound effects.

Thanks again for putting so much effort in the turnaround time it takes to come back to us and implementing the changes. It shows your commitment.

Hi Marc, just to be clear, the wish list threads are places where people can express their ideas and suggestions, and as I also wrote at the top of those posts, there's no way we can fulfill every single request Smile

The ideas that would be most useful to the majority of our current and future customers are the ones that are most likely to be implemented (assuming that they can be implemented of course, and that boils down to available time, resources and technical constraints). Another consideration is to ensure that every single new feature fits the Lumion concept 100% (Simplicity first), so it is perfectly possible that there are advanced features that Ferry and Remko never want to implement in Lumion.

Anyway, our main priority right now is to finish Update 1.

Once that's out the door, Ferry and Remko will go through the wish lists and carefully consider whether each idea matches their vision for Lumion 1.x and beyond, so all I can say for now is to stay tuned.

Having said that, I totally understand why you'd like more definite time scales. Certain features have the potential to transform the services you'll be able to deliver in the future, but the best advice I can give you right now is not to promise any of your clients that feature XYZ will be available until you are absolutely sure. Software development is incredibly complex and although we can offer you glimpses of what's to come (for example when Ferry said that a standalone viewer should work in principle) there are never any guarantees that things will work or be ready by a certain date in this industry.

We are heavily invested in our customers and we try to grasp as much information as we can to shape our vision of what direction we want to go. Luckily our dreams and ideas concerning Lumion are very much in line with what our customers want.

We have very exciting plans for the upcoming year and I'm sure you will love them. Even if we can achieve 80% of our ambitions for this year you will be very pleased. In the mean while we want Lumion to be a very polished product so we'll keep working hard ironing out any bugs or issues with current versions.

I'd love to provide you with a schedule for the next version but for now it's all secret information.

I hope that Act-3D will have its own booth at Siggraph 2011.

Then you have to change radically the graphics of Lumion site and the forum engine, today I can't post messages through my ipad or iphone.

Quest 3D site is above and beyond compared to the Lumion site.

I have a question which fits into the topic I guess.

One of my clients is interested in showing the real-time viz I do for him at the moment to the public. The people (visitors of a technology center) should be able to navigate the viz and see how the city will change with each stage of construction.

We consider switching from our current real-time software to Lumion.

Does clent need an own Lumion license at the moment to be able to show it on a terminal?

I guess "yes" at the moment but "no" as soon as a stand-alone application has been released?!

We have just had a meeting and we will do some tests concerning point/spot lights and as soon as we have some details on the progress we will provide an official date for an update that has this feature.

There are no extra licenses required what so ever for displaying a Lumion presentation. The only thing is that  you need to have Lumion running so you need to have a dongle at the presentation site or setup a server yourself (personally I would use a dongle at the site).

You also need to prevent people from pressing some of the keys so you can hook up a Xbox gamepad and let them use that for flying around.

You'll have to wait if you want to add more complex interactions in a stand-alone exe.

Thanks Remko.

At the moment there is nothing planned. The idea with the gamepad is cool. haven't thought about it. :)
