I'm hoping to show a building construction by creating a series of clips, each spinning around the building, each with a different level of construction shown.

Ideally I'd like the same camera move for each clip. Is there a way of achieving this? Alt dragging the clip in the main movie timeline didn't seem to work.

No at the moment there is no possibility to copy a movie clip :-[
You have to render these clips manually, step by step. I imagine you put the construction steps on different layers and wanted to make these layers visible step by step, right? At the moment you can only make step 1 visible, render it, make the next step visible, rerender the clip and so on. There is also an effect called skydrop or so, with that you let fall down building parts from above. They must all be imported extra and not in one turn to make that possible.
