Fair enough, we don't want you to burn out the GPU.
If it quickly reached temperature limits, then that also sounds like the card just does not have the performance to run well. Lumion requires a lot of GPU resources to get the best out of it.
I see in the OCCT GPU Tab that the Intel 4600 is selected. Can you run the test with the NVIDIA card selected?
Can you double-check the NVIDIA Control Panel settings to make sure the NVIDIA card is set for use with Lumion.
As a last test I would run PassMark PC Performance tool
for a comprehensive test and report of the laptop. You can also get a GPU performance that can be compared to their online submitted scores.
Unless there are some other reasons to think the hardware might work, I would suggest that you need to see if you can use Lumion on a suitable desktop PC or high-end (GTX770M, 780M 970M, 980M) laptop, that more closely matches our recommended requirements.
