Hi Friends, Is there a way , a tip, or trick on how can we rotate objects along the horizontal axis? I would like to simulate the movement of a wheel, or a water turbine in my animations and i can't seem to find a way to rotate it along the horizontal line. Thanks for your answers.

Hi ongiebotz, the built-in animation effects in Lumion only allow you to rotate objects up to 180 degrees. In Lumion 1, the effect is called Animate objects and in Lumion 2, they're called Basic Animation and Advanced Animation.

However, in Lumion Free/Ultimate, you can import move/rotate/scale animations from modelling applications via the FBX format (for example from 3DS Max), and rotating them more than 180 degrees is obviously not a problem.

Yes sir, I see, Thanks for the response. I modeled a file in sketchup and exported it to lumion. I used the animate to rotate the file. But the rotation only permits rotation along the vertical axis. for example, I can only rotate an object thru it's X-axis. I wanted to rotate the object vertically. Like the animation in the lumion preset of the windmill. The blades are turning along the horizontal line. Thanks for the response sir.

Ah, I'm guessing you're using Lumion 1 then. Make sure you turn on Settings -> Always advanced mode on. This will display additional Rotate buttons (Rotate Pitch and Rotate Bank), both when you're using the Animate objects effect as well as in Build mode.

Unfortunately, it still won't let you rotate objects more than 180 degrees, and you can't export animations from SketchUp to Lumion at the moment.

So your only option seems to be to use 3DS Max or Maya (or ask someone in this forum to animate the wind turbine for you).

Lumion 2 Free will be released after Lumion 2 Basic/Ultimate has been updated to Build 3.
