Hi!

Is there anyway to speak with a Lumion Rep on the phone? I would like to conference call with my boss on the software. We are currently using the demo version and are considering Pro and have questions on the types of files needed. Please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Morten,

Thank you! Wow, that was fast.

Well, the concern we are having is this. Do the CAD files needed to work in Lumion, must they be 3D? Or can they be 2D drawings?

Thanks!

Hello again, zmarketing - it's not possible to import a 2D drawing as lines in Lumion, e.g. in DXF or DWG format from AutoCAD, and there is no modelling functionality either in Lumion. Lumion can however import 3D models in DWG and DXF format via AutoDesk's RealDWG technology.

Would the 2D drawing be needed as an overlay for placing objects in Lumion, e.g. trees or lamps?

If so, Lumion does offer another function that might come in handy: Place item on nodes.

It allows you to import dummy objects from your CAD application and replace those objects with trees or lamps.

Hi Morten,

No, it is not for overlay objects. We have drawings of shopping mall properties we would like to make 3D renderings and videos.

So if we already have 2D CAD drawings, we would need another software to make them 3D, and then can import them into Lumion?

Is there no other option for our current CAD drawings?

Let me know. Thanks!

Thanks!
