Color of standart material?

Pardon me, but I couldnt find a topic about it. Not sure if its me or the search function that isnt working very well  ???

anyway... lets say I want a red plastic material. So I create a red material at Sketchup and import  the model to Lumion.

the red material imported from Sketchup had no reflections or anything, thus it doesnt look like plastic.

so I will edit the material. If I chose CUSTOM MATERIAL - COLOR, then I can chose any color but I cant chose reflections, nor emisiveness nor anything like that.

if I choose STANDART material, the Sketchup material turns WHITE. And I can´t assign a COLOR to it. Only a texture. Thus, for all color materials from Sketchup (to which textures arent assigned, I would need to create a texture with that same color...)

doesnt make much sense. Wouldnt it be more interesting to be able to assign a specific color in the STANDART material inside Lumion? Or to assign different effects to the COLOR material in Lumion?

Hi aceshigh, thanks for your feedback (Adding a colour picker to the Standard material has been requested a number of times).

I am sorry for requesting it again, but when I used the forum search for COLOR and PLASTIC, it strangely returned no result! And when manually searching the forum, looking for specific threads, I didnt found any until page 3, when I gave up on the manual search :)

Yeah, the standard search function is pretty much useless - I can't find anything unless I use the Advanced search function. When Remko gets back, I hope he can make the Advanced Search function the default method.

really we need real plastic material with any colours and real reflection like they added marbels, so i hope really lumion team will do it one day, because it's very hard to do the plastic material

Thanks for oyur feedback.

The developers are indeed aware of the limitations of the current materials system, and have been reviewing it in depth.

1.  Have you been able to achieve something similar to plastic?
2.  How close to other plastic looks does it need to be, given there will be a difference between what Lumion can produce compared to raycast renderers?
3.  How close to a preferred look does it need to  be for animation, as compared to photo renders that are close-ups?

If you do have a reasonable base material, then from that point it's easy to duplicate and make use of Material Sets and Materials.

GLOSSINESS slider usually creates a plastic look.

Hi made these plastic bins in Sketchup. I couldn't use a sketchup colour (.skm) so I imported the colour I needed and applied as a texture.
