Is there a way of having 2D CAD plan underneath your model in Lumion, that will come through as just lines? Or a PDF of the plan perhaps?

You could import a plane that has a texture being the plan (do in either modelling tool or in Lumion),  and position the plane at some point below the imported model.  

Unless some amount of transparency is applied to all surfaces (only for Glass Material), then most of the plan is not going to be visible, so roof and levels would need to be hidden (brought in as separate layers) to see the plan at base of model.  Lumion does not support semi-transparency of complete objects as in some CAD/design tools/SkUp.

Seems to work for me just fine. ??? ??? I import dwg and have it on a layer and it shows up in lumion as black lines.

Create a .tga with the alpha layer so that the CAD lines/text are White and the "paper" area is black. Apply to a single sided plane in Lumion, put the Reflection/Clip/Bright slider to "Clip", put the sun straight up at 12:00 noon and move the plane above your model... now you have a overlay shadow of the cad drawing.

Just tested it out... so my application in the pix aren't ideal as it was thrown together quick just for example. Gives me ideas though to present floor plans in Lumion w/ dimension and labels overlaying.

Depending on the modeling program you use, you could dimension your model then export the dimensions apart from the model and import it as linework. Then just align the two in Lumion, seperate them in layers, and now you have a dimmed model in Lumion.

Sketchup does not allow exporting of dimensions :(

But, for instance, if you had a CAD plan or model, then you can export dimensions as a .dxf and when you import it, the dims come in as edges. Not sure if you can go straight to Lumion, but if not, just import the .dxf into Sketchup then export from there to Lumion.
