Hi TPP CADguy, welcome to the Lumion Support Center
The Nvidia Quadro K4000 graphics card gets 2,841 PassMark points
The minimum requirement for simple Lumion scenes is 2,000 points
. The next step up is 6,000 points
for moderately complex Lumion scenes. Click here
to see the full list.
As you've found out the hard way, a slow graphics card will have a significant impact on render times.
We provide recommendations on which graphics cards to pick (based on the complexity of the scenes you expect to be working on), as well as recommendations on other PC components in these Knowledge Base
Please note that it is not always simply a matter of buying a new graphics card.
If the PC has a slow CPU and/or an inadequate power supply, you may experience subpar performance in Lumion and the power supply might not be suitable for the graphics card you picked.
For that reason, I'd recommend that you have a look at the Knowledge Base
articles above, and let us know what you have in mind (based on your budget, your project requirements and any other constraints).
Now, regarding the crashes you're experiencing, I'm guessing you're running Lumion 5.3 Demo
on Windows 10?
If so, please note that this version is 2 years old and cannot use more than 4 GB memory (regardless of how much is available) on Windows 10. Exceeding 4 GB memory will make Lumion crash. This limitation does not apply to Lumion 6.5 (and newer versions of Lumion).
For that reason, I would recommend that you click here
and follow the instructions to get access to our 7-day fully functional trial version of Lumion 7.0.1 Pro
. Please note that this version requires that the latest graphics card driver and all available Windows updates are installed.
Let us know if we can assist with anything else.
