All, Currently using Lumion 3, My lumion Crashed on a White Screen, ie , still in the model file.
When i restarted Lumion, it is pointing me to a file which is over a day old, there has been a LOT of work done to the file since. How can i go about getting my work back ?

Very infuriating....

Colin...

Hi Colin, that sounds awful - I know how that feels, not just in Lumion but in many other applications...

To make a long story short, if none of the conditions below are true, your work is lost and there is no way to retrieve it :(

1) Lumion saves a file called Autosave when you load a new scene.

2) Lumion saves a file called AutoSaveOnQuit when you quit Lumion.

3) Lumion saves a file called QuickSave when you press the F5 key.

4) Files -> Save scene

5) Files -> Export full scene (Lumion Pro only)

You're welcome to post a request for timed interval Scene backups in the Wish List section. I realise that this won't help you right now, but given enough interest, perhaps the developers of Lumion would consider implementing it, so that you won't find yourself in this situation again in the future...

THanks Morten,

What really is strange however, is the Autosave which is mentioned is dated Yesterday at 11.52am before much work was done on it, what's happened to all the other autosaves since then ? THey must exist, and there a multitude of more up to date Lumion folders on the C:\ Drive etc....can it not read 'another' autosave/ autosaveonquit ?

Hi Colin, Autosave and AutoSaveOnQuit are overwritten every time the first two conditions in my previous post occur. AutoSaveOnQuit will not be saved if Lumion crashes or if you terminate the Lumion.exe process in the Task Manager.

So if your Autosave and AutoSaveOnQuit files are not the ones you're looking for, it means that they have been overwritten when you opened other scenes and/or quit Lumion after the crash.

In other words, there's no way to retrieve the lost work :(

When stuff like this happens to me, I tell myself that the the result will usually be better the 2nd time I recreate lost work.

And lastly, I should mention that crashes are extremely rare, so if you are experiencing this on a regular basis, please post a report in the Bugs & Issues section as soon as possible, so we can investigate what's causing it.

By crash, I mean a proper crash, not just a white screen. A white screen means that your scene is getting too complex for your hardware, and that the harddrive has to be used to store all the scene data on. The Global Illumination effect, the Reflection effect and spotlights all have the capability to make your scene super complex in no time.
