Hi,

is it possible to assign one of the grass materials you have added to your landscape to imported objects? I can t find the same once in the material editor and moreover the once in the material editor are looking much less realistic than the once on the terrains (after my opinion).

Thxx for any help in advance...

Hi Mischa, have you already tried this procedure?

Edit material -> Edit -> +button -> Click on the model -> Custom -> Choose the "Landscape" material

Once you've applied this material to your model, you can paint it just like you paint the terrain object.

Sorry, I don't follow? The Landscape material is already in the Material Editor, right? Or do you mean to say that you'd like the Landscape paint function to be in the Material Editor as well?

I think he means the same materials made available in the material editor as are available as selections in the landscape shader, meaning the 4 selectable ones per landscape preset. (presumably the paint function…)

Yes right, that is what I was trying to say, thx Aaron for your better explantion…

When I go to the section where I can edit and apply materials, there is a section (I think it is called ground) where are prepared different grass and sand materials. They don t look by far as good as the ones available for the terrains. Would be nice to have the same ones in the material editor, so that I don t have to add the landscape material and then move to the terrain tool, only to have the possibility to assign a nice grass texture to my imported object.

Have you played with the light and material settings mischa? In my experience it can make a lot of difference, ie: wrong lighting means the materials look bad. Improve the lighting and suddenly you enjoy better (spec)reflections, better bumpmappings etc.

Edit: To be clear: the light settings of the sun, fog, aoc, clouds etc. as well as the material settings.

Yes I did some tests, but all my other materials are looking good. Only the standard grass materials are looking very unnatural concerning their colors and they are somehow looking rough, not like grass. The terrain grass materials are looking very nice, fresh colors and nice textures, so I personaly prefer these ones.

The landscape material is more a nice hack not a real feature we want to expand for now.
